    Care Instructions

Cordovan leather requires different care than calfskin due to its unique properties. Brush and wipe regularly and apply cream occasionally to protect the leather and maintain its rich color.

    Regular Maintenance:

Regularly, brush the leather with our Horsehair Shine Brush or wipe with our Cotton Flannel Polishing Cloth.

To Protect and Restore Color, Follow These Steps:

STEP 1: Wipe your shoe down with a damp cloth and allow to dry.

STEP 2: Using your Horsehair Dauber, apply a small amount of our Cordovan Care Cream in a circular motion.

STEP 3: While the cream is still slightly wet, take our Horsehair Shine Brush and brush back and forth, heating the cream and leather. This allows the natural oils to move to the surface to bring out the leather's natural shine.

STEP 4: Next, use the soft side of our Cotton Flannel Polishing Cloth to buff the shoe until the surface is no longer tacky. Often, some excess cream will transfer onto the cloth, which is normal.

STEP 5: Take our Heel Dressing applicator and press against the edge of the heel and sole.

    Fit

    Classic Fit

Most people consider a “classic” fit to be a “standard” fit. This fit more closely aligns with the natural shape of your feet.

Park Avenue Cordovan Cap-toe Oxford is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 1158.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality materials, quality craftsmanship, great fit This is my 4th pair of AEs and these are the best pair yet. The quality/craftsmanship for these cordovan park avenues is a notch above my other pairs (which are also very well made). Beautiful cordovan leather on the classic 65 last cap toe is a perfect match. Additionally, I did have some trial and error finding the right size on the 65 last. Turns out I'm a 10 C, but the local Allen Edmonds store only had 10 B and 10D widths to try on in store. Recommendation to AE is to stock more C widths at brick and mortar locations instead of just D and B. Overall great shoe, and i've been super happy since I was able to find my right size!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top notch American craftsmanship I’ve been wearing AE shoes for years, and finally sprung for the Park Ave when they were $60 off for Father’s Day. Additionally I had an AMEX Plarinum offer to get $90 back on an AE purchase of $300 or more, so keep an eye out for these deals. $250 is much easier to swallow than $400. I absolutely love these shoes. They’re so timeless and elegant. The craftsmanship is impeccable. These shoes are an investment in your professional wardrobe. I bought mine in the Pentagon Square store in Arlington, VA. I had stopped in previously, with a 5th Ave purchase on my mind (no deals at the time). The salesman was very attentive, but I wasn’t satisfied with the fit of the shoes he presented me, and I left. The second time, I was very fortunate that the manager, Derrick Aaron was present. His knowledge of the products and the nuances of their fit blew my mind. When you’re spending three to five bills on a pair of shoes, you deserve a professional like Derrick to guide your decision. He expertly measured my feet, assessed my instep, and fitted me with the perfect size and width (slightly smaller than normal). It was a great experience. I really hope Derrick sticks around for a few years, because I don’t want to buy shoes from anyone else.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This company has amazing shoes. I have gotten 3 pairs of shoes from Allen Edmonds and I will buy more! The shoes fell as they are an extension of my feet. They use the best leather & the customer service is first class. I have recommended Allen Edmonds to all of coworkers and family.

Do the Cordovan Park Avenue’s run small, big or true to size? All of my dress shoes are 41 (ECCO and Timberlands). AE fitted me today at 40

I know my foot is wide but was told by an AE rep today that I was EEE. I purchased two Cordovan Park Avenues today and I am hoping the representative measured my foot correctly.
    Asked by: Freddy
Thank you for your inquiry! The Cordovan Park Ave does fit true to size.

what is the difference in the park avenue cap toe and the park avenue cordovan cap toe?

    Asked by: Anonymous
The Park Avenue shell cordovan version also uses a more expensive and denser leather sole made by a firm in Germany. My experience with this sole is that it is significantly more durable than a conventional leather sole, and will not require replacement as often.

    Cordovan Water Resistance

I have read that cordovan leather is a more durable leather with a higher propensity to repel water and handle more harsh winter weather conditions. Is this true and can I expect to be able to wear these through the (Ohio) winter without causing long-term permanent damage to the leather. I maintain a fairly regular shoe care routine with polishing and waxing, however, am not obsessive.
    Asked by: Steve
While Shell Cordovan is more durable that calfskin, it can still absorb water and create water stains. We suggest avoiding rain or snow if possible as water and salt can cause damage. If you get caught in the rain or snow, we recommend wiping down the leather as soon as possible and letting them dry away from heat, then follow your typical care routine. To protect your investments, we suggest using overshoes which are waterproof. Feel free to contact us again if you have additional questions!
