Factory-Seconds FAQ

Allen Edmonds Factory Tour

What is a Factory-Second?

Factory-Seconds are shoes that contain slight blemishes that don't allow them to be sold as a First-Quality shoes at our Retail stores, on AllenEdmonds.com or through our partner retailers. Close to 90% of the imperfections are due to slight cosmetic blemishes such as scratches, nicks, leather imperfections or wrinkles. The remaining imperfections are due to slightly misaligned stitching or a stain in the burnishing. A very small number of Factory-Seconds may have previously been flexed or tried on in the store possibly resulting in minor creasing. Rest assured, none of the Factory-Seconds were ever sold and worn out of the store.

The cosmetic imperfections do not affect the performance, fit or durability of the shoes.

We often hear from outlet customers that these blemishes are soon imperceptible after a few days of wear.
