Allen Edmonds Shoe Care

When caring for your calfskin, use Allen Edmonds Leather Lotion to remove surface residue and to keep leather soft and pliable. To achieve a fine luster, wipe shoes with a damp cloth and allow them to air dry at room temperature. Then, apply a coat of Allen Edmonds Premium Shoe Polish with a cloth or horsehair dauber and allow to air dry.

Reviews
Rated 3.7 out of 5 by 57 reviewers.
Rated 3 out of 5 by High Quality shoe with little blemish. Bought these shows a few weeks ago from Germany via allenedmonds.com. The transaction via bongous.com was smooth as silk, daily status notifications, the shoes arrived in no time via fedex. So I can highly recommend the service provided by Allen Edmonds. The quality of the shoes is high class, very nice craftsmanship and materials. One blemish though, which I would not expect on a 395$ shoe (550$ if you add shipping and custom fees to Germany): The holes on the leather straps differ length wise, which means they were not punched in on the same location on the straps of the shoe. So one shoe sits very tight on the foot, the other one quite loose using the same length of the strap. So in the end the length of the straps differ on each shoe which is optically not really satisfying for the new owner if you want to dress sharp. August 28, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Molded for your feet I have the Mora 2.0 in bourbon. Initially I was not satisfied with the bourbon as it had striations in the coloring resembling tree bark. I subsequently applied a brown cream polish to blend it better and it looks great. Fit: 11E, fits snug but not tight. Feels like it was custom made for me. After a few moments of warm up, the leather softens and begins to relax. After a few wears, it's firmly molded to your feet and comfortable as any shoe I own. I have walked miles at a time in these with no discomfort. Style: double monk is badass. Looks great with jeans and the brown is more casual than the black. Looks equally stunning with a light colored suit. Function: versatile and durable. The straps have an elastic component to ease access and can be positioned to remain in place like a slip on, if that's your fancy. Overall, I have 5 pair of AE shoes and these are one of my favorites. July 13, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good value double monks Nice quality leather. Virtually no break in, they were comfortable out the box. Overall a good value. July 13, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Loving the Mora 2.0 so far "Fancy". That's what multiple people have stated as a compliment towards the Mora 2.0 shoe. I recieved my brown pair through a recent seconds sale and have no regrets. The quality is holding up well after a few months, while they get two wears a week. These are my first pair of monk strap shoes, so I worry about how long the top buckle will hold out, though no signs of degradation thus far. Many have commented on the shoes making a lot of noise, even after break in. As I apply Honey Leather on a regular basis, no concerns yet. Figure regular maintenance of the shoes will keep any friction noises at bay. July 13, 2016

Answer:
The Mora style was updated into the Neumora style, which then was updated into the Mora 2.0. The reason for this change was purely an engineering choice. Due to customer feedback, early models were tweaked to refine the fit and function of the shoe.

Both the Mora and the Mora 2.0 are manufactured on the 8-Last (108) which has an elongated forepart with a tapered and flatter toe. The Neumora was manufactured on the 3-Last (333). By selecting shoes manufactured on the same last that most resembles the contours of one’s feet, customers will achieve a superior fit.

Is the Mora built on the same "platform" as the Norwich? I have Norwich in brown 8.5 E and they fit perfectly, would be good to know if Mora in same size and width would fit the same.

Answer:
No, they are built on different lasts for one, and also the Norwich has a thicker, double oak sole whereas the Mora has a thinner single.

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

The Norwich is manufactured on our 2-Last (222), which has an elongated toe with a slightly higher instep. The Mora 2.0 is manufactured using the 8-Last (108) which also has an elongated forepart, but with a tapered and flatter toe. These two lasts are very similar to each other, and as a result will provide a similar fit; we suggest trying the Mora 2.0 in a size 8.5E.

Keep in mind, however, that each style can fit differently based on individual foot shape. The best way to get a proper fit is to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores. If this is not possible, remember products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoe in returnable condition.

When wearing double monk shoes, there is a noise in the front upper where the straps are. It must be because of the movement or friction between the tongue and the straps. It does not go away. I had to return them. Is this normal on double monks? what is the difference between 2.0 and the original.??
I am afraid of buying version 2.0 due to noise...I am quite fun of your shoes> If it were for money, I would have , as in own, 90% of your models.
keep the great work ..

Answer:
I wouldn't say that this is normal for double monks but, from what I've read, non uncommon for these (mine do/did it). The lining of the strap against the finish of the tongue causes it. I applied talc powder to the lining of the strap for the first few wears and after some break-in, the squeaking has not come back. I have read from a few people that they had to do talc long-term or resort to lining their strap with moleskin in order to deal with it so I couldn't promise that it would always be as easy to deal with as on mine.

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

The “squeaking” noise in a premium leather shoe is normally caused by two types of leather in the shoe’s construction rubbing together. For example, the outer leather on top of the LaSalle’s tongue rubbing against the leather lining on the underside of the shoe’s eyestays. This noise does not indicate a problem with the construction of the shoe; it is natural for two types of leathers which are layered upon one another to make noise. Applying a talcum powder can help to reduce this.

I wear a 7E for normal AE lace-ups. I have a rather narrow foot, and I am concerned that my foot will slip/slide in the shoe when walking. Would the 7E still be the correct size? I want to ensure sizing before ordering.

Does the new Mora 2.0 use an elastic gore to attach the rear buckle to the shoe, like the "improved" Neumora has for the last year or so? Or does it use leather for the attachment, like the original Mora did?

It isn't obvious from the product photos one way or the other, and the description doesn't mention it.

I currently own a pair of Neumoras with the elastic gore, and also tried on a pair with the leather attachment before that. Because of my high instep, I was unable to wear them comfortably without the additional stretch afforded by the elastic gore.

Answer:
It uses an elastic buckle attachment for the buckle closest to the ankle. You can't see it when actually wearing the shoe, since it's hidden under the leather. However, the elastic bit makes it easier to slip the shoe on/off without buckling. The elastic appears very well made, so it should last a while.
