Our belts are measured from the inside edge of the buckle to the center hole. Because of this, we recommend selecting a belt one full size larger than your waist size. For example, if the waist size on your slacks or pant size is a 36" we recommend ordering a 38" belt.

Not really a dress belt, shoddy workmanship
When this belt went on sale recently, I hurried and bought one in each colour to match my AE dress shoes. The belts arrived in a big box, packed in plastic baggies, with no other protection. I bought less expensive belts elsewhere and they were tastefully packed in flannel bags and individual gift boxes... But, aside the AE's now standard cheapism, these belts were a disappointment. They were simply too thick and the buckle too big to be called a dress belt, and yet too dressy to wear with casual pants. The leather material appeared to be good quality to me, but the workmanship on some of the belts was downright shoddy. The end tip on all 5 belts was very crudely cut, and the stitching on some of them was exposed where the tip was cut too close to the stitching. Returned.

It is more of a dark brown.

Pictures of the belt in oxblood & coffee colors do not show the AE branding. The others do. Which is correct? I assume this does not vary by color.
Our newly manufactured belts no longer have the Allen Edmonds brand on the buckle.

Can you use Saphir polish to hydrate and polish the leather belt
We recommend Allen Edmonds Leather Lotion for our belts to moisturize the leather and keep it from drying. Our care products are specifically formulated and tested for our products. We are unable to recommend other brands as we are not aware of the ingredients they use.

If I’m a 33 pant what size belt do I buy
I'm no expert, but the "rule of thumb" has always been to round up..So if you are a 33" waist, you probably wear a 34" pant and therefore I'd choose a 36" belt.

Why is this belt called "Wide"? It looks pretty basic.

Are your belts recraftable?
I have lost some weight and well my belts are now to big. I was wondering if the buckle end can be unsown and made to a shorter length and be resown together again.
