Normandy Boots is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 49.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Phenomenal Super buttery soft leather. Extremely comfortable and good looking boot. The only feedback Allen Edmonds needs to take is that the size of the cap toes are not consistent - many a times one is larger than the other. This could possibly be because the leather is very soft and stretchy....but that's where AE's years of expertise and attention to detail should kick in. Am I right AE?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable yet Rugged I'm amazed at the fantastic suppleness of the leather. Yet, they are durably rugged. After a year of frequent use they have held up amazingly even in adverse weather. I take care of them, but I do not baby them by any means. The only negative I can say is that I wish the top extended a little higher above the ankle, but that is me being picky. An truly excellent product that I highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Total sleeper--Astonishingly comfortable, versatile boot OK, I was never really that interested in this one based on the online photos, which don't really do it justice--the toe looks too bulbous, the contrast lacing in the stock photo too out of place, the distressing too try-hard. It actually looked like a gimmicky replica piece that I'd have a hard time finding a meaningful use for. But I picked one up in the recent sale, on impulse, literally minutes before the end of the sale--and actually probably expecting that I'd end up returning it. But then it arrived. The last is much less bulbous than the stock photographs make it appear, creating a significantly more refined looking boot than, say, an Iron Ranger with that enormous tall toe. Leather has a really nice hand to it, with a modest, soft sheen that looks great on a casual boot like this. Mine wasn't pre-distressed at all, which is great by me. But the real winner is the AMAZING feel--the unlined kudu needs absolutely no break-in, and these boots were instantly among the most comfortable shoes I own. Fit is generous where it needs to be but overall true to size. I'm a little mixed on the leather sole; it feels and looks great, but provides minimal traction and the durability is suspect. But these will definitely be worth a recraft onto Dainite or some other more durable sole if and when the leather wears out. This is one of the most unexpectedly satisfying purchases I've made in recent memory. Great work, AE!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice boots These boots are made with very supple leather. Took almost no break-in time. If I ever have to have them resoled, I will probably replace the leather sole with a dainite sole for better traction. These boots are very comfortable and a great value especially when purchased on clearance.

Whats the difference between Caen and Normandy

I just purchased a taupe Normandy and cant seem to find any difference to the Caen. It even has a lug sole.
    Asked by: brody
Thank you for reaching out to us. The difference between the Normandy Boot and the Caen Boot is the leather it is made from. The Normandy Boot is made from kudu leather, whereas the Caen Boot is made of kudu suede. We hope this was helpful!

    Sizes and soles?

Any chance the Normandy will be rereleased in a size 14? I'm a 14EEE, and I really want this boot but the published size sand widths won't fit me. I'd also like to see a thicker sole, like the sole on the Long Branch boot. Since the Normandy is meant to echo a WW2 combat boot, that really seems like a natural fit; at least offer that thicker sole as a custom sole option.

There are currently no immediate plans to offer the size 14 in a EEE width. We apologize for the inconvenience. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

If I am a 11.5 D in the A&E 65 last shoes, what size should I go with for the Normandy boot / last?

    Asked by: Miles
It is vitally important to visit an Allen Edmonds retail store or retail partner for a professional fitting to increase your chances of finding a proper fit. If that's not possible, typically we recommend trying the same size you usually wear and judge the fit based on how comfortable you feel in the shoes.   Keep in mind that products purchased on AllenEdmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip.  Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoes in returnable condition.

You offer custom sole options, but would it be possible to get the boot with a complete lug sole, perhaps by Vibram, similar to what's on the heel?

    Asked by: Spaceman Spiff
At this time, custom sole options are limited to what's currently offered online. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

What should I use to waterproof these boots and protect them from road salt?

After wearing these boots in a snowy city, they ended up very salt stained. I cleaned the salt stains using only water and a cloth, but want to prevent them from staining again. Can I apply Sno Seal, or other waterproofing products to these boots?
    Asked by: Anonymous
We do not recommend using waterproofing products as they can impair the leather's ability to "breathe" by clogging the pores and affect the integrity of the leather. We suggest using overshoes to protect fine leather shoes from rain or snow, or choosing appropriate footwear when expecting inclement weather conditions. Keep in mind, that there can be a lot of harmful matter that can get absorbed by the leather when there's water and slush on the ground. If your shoes happen to become salt stained, we suggest cleaning them as soon as possible, using our Salt Stain remover if there are stains, conditioning, and then allow them to dry. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

I take a 12B in every AE boot I own (Higgins, 1st Ave, Cron); would an 11D or 11.5D (B is unavailable) be likely to work for me in the Normandy boot?

    Asked by: IM Good
It is vitally important to visit an Allen Edmonds retail store or retail partner for a professional fitting to increase your chances of finding a proper fit. If that's not possible, typically we recommend trying the same size you usually wear and judge the fit based on how comfortable you feel in the shoes. If you're in between sizes or your size is not available, you may need to try a few different size/width combinations to see what feels best for you. You can expect a difference of 1/6" in length between half sizes, and 3/16" in volume between widths. Keep in mind that products purchased on AllenEdmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoes in returnable condition.
