    Care Instructions

Cordovan leather requires different care than calfskin due to its unique properties. Brush and wipe regularly and apply cream occasionally to protect the leather and maintain its rich color.

    Regular Maintenance:

Regularly, brush the leather with our Horsehair Shine Brush or wipe with our Cotton Flannel Polishing Cloth.

To Protect and Restore Color, Follow These Steps:

STEP 1: Wipe your shoe down with a damp cloth and allow to dry.

STEP 2: Using your Horsehair Dauber, apply a small amount of Cordovan cream in a circular motion.

STEP 3: While the cream is still slightly wet, take our Horsehair Shine Brush and brush back and forth, heating the cream and leather. This allows the natural oils to move to the surface to bring out the leather's natural shine.

STEP 4: Next, use the soft side of our Cotton Flannel Polishing Cloth to buff the shoe until the surface is no longer tacky. Often, some excess cream will transfer onto the cloth, which is normal.

STEP 5: Take our Heel Dressing applicator and press against the edge of the heel and sole.

    Relaxed Fit

The relaxed fit has added space in the toe box. This extra room allows for thicker socks and foot expansion that occurs at the end of the day or during a long flight.

Cambridge Shell Cordovan Wingtip is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 69.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Some what uncomfortable I don't live in an area that has high end shoe stores. I was hoping for a really comfortable shoe. I know it will take time to break in but dont expect a comfortable sole like a rubber sole. You will be on leather and feel ever step.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I have wanted a pair of Shell Cordovan Wingtips for 20+ years! Unfortunate ordering process and very minor quality issue. As my 10th pair of Allen Edmonds shoes, this shoe is exactly what I wanted. When I ordered them I knew that I needed an E width since I had another pair of AEs (Fifth Avenue) built on the same last. When the order arrived I tried them on and they fit like a D. Luckily I had them delivered to my local store and they verified my size (thank you!) and ordered another pair. When the second pair arrived the fit was exactly what I expected. When I got the shoes home I noticed odd nail holes in the heel directly next to two of the nails. Not that big of a deal considering that it’s the heel and they will certainly get refracted at some point. But at a $700 price point it’s a little disappointing that the first pair didn’t fit and the second pair had a defect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Elegant Style and a Classy Look I bought my first pair 8 years ago - they are still new looking and wear perfectly. I guessed at the size when I bought them - they were too big so I put some cushion inserts in and they feel very comfortable. I bought a second pair in the correct size for my foot - these also are comfortable and fit perfectly. Nothing says "classy look" and "elegant Style" like the Cambridge Cordovan collection!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Shoe Very nice shoe, but pricey. If you are interested in buying cordovan for the first time, do your homework. Somewhat different than regular leather shoes. Recommend VTread soles.

I bought a pair of Cambridge burgundy about a year ago. Love them, but they squeak when I walk . As best I can tell, the squeak comes from areas where the leather wing sits on top of leather. I can reproduce the squeak by putting light pressure over those areas of the shoes. This keeps me from enjoying wearing them. Suggestions?
    Asked by: F35
Squeaking sometimes occurs on shoes because we use authentic leathers such as calfskin. When two pieces of leather rub against each other, such as the leather lining, upper leather and /or tongue leathers, squeaking may occur due to the friction. The fix is usually quite simple; general wear will help dissipate the noise, or you can apply Leather Lotion as a lubricant. Leather Lotion can be found on our website, or you can also visit an Allen Edmonds store and have a store associate apply the lotion for you. -AE Consumer Care Dept.

What AE belt color matches best for the burgundy shoe?

I have been looking at the burgundy Cambridge Wingtip, and a belt to match. I don't want to spend the money on a cordovan belt, so I am looking at a calf belt. All the other answers to this question are for a belt color that is no longer made, so an update would be great. Thanks!

Will Cordovan make the shoe hotter to wear in the summer?

I live in Phoenix, our summers get pretty hot, averaging 110 degrees in the summer afternoons. Will I want to wear a AE Cordovan shoe during the Phoenix summer? Is it a much hotter shoe to wear? I am debating getting a pair of calf skin shoes (Jefferson) vs the Cordovan. Have you done any studies to see how long calf skins last vs Cordovan, given equal care? Thanks!

Shell Cordovan, without a doubt, will outlast ANY leather for a dress shoe.

What is the last for this model?

    Asked by: Scott
The Cambridge is manufactured on the 65 last which is the longest in length of all of our lasts; best for a long, narrow look; and often the best fit for those with high arches. Please feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

Why does the price vary so much between similar-looking shoes?

I love the quality of Allan Edmonds shoes, and own 4 pairs. I'm shopping for black dress wingtips, and don't understand why the price varies so much for similar-looking shoes. Thanks
    Asked by: Kevin
Kevin, The high price of these shoes is due to the fact that they're made from cordovan leather which is more rare and costly to produce. It's is also more durable and higher quality than calfskin. Worth the price in my opinion.
