Product Care

Allen Edmonds Shoe Care

When caring for your calfskin, use Allen Edmonds Leather Lotion to remove surface residue and to keep leather soft and pliable. To achieve a fine luster, wipe shoes with a damp cloth and allow them to air dry at room temperature. Then, apply a coat of Allen Edmonds Premium Shoe Polish with a cloth or horsehair dauber and allow to air dry.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from WHAT'S HAPPENED AT ALLEN EDMONDS First off, let me say that I was a happy Allen Edmonds customer for over a decade. I own several pairs of their shoes and as a big guy (6'2, 225), I can say that they stand up to the abuse of time, are easily repaired, and the styles are timeless. When I made the decision to add a few more pairs to my collection, I was utterly disappointed. The first pair I ordered was on sale and I was super excited when they arrived. I open the box to find one of the shoes had a huge gouge on the outside leather of the left shoe...super visible. Call customer service, they say they have plenty in stock. By the time my return was processed and I went to order another pair - all gone. Strike one and two (visible blemish and they could have reserved a pair for me, etc.). Still needed another pair of shoes, I ordered a similar, but different model. The shoes arrive at my door, I open the box...ANOTHER BLEMISH. I'm not talking about a slight variation of color, or something that you would describe as "character", but something that a quality control inspection would have easily of the "firsts" line and put into the "seconds" box. Strike Three. I guess I would buy another pair if I could buy the shoes in person, but at this point, Allen Edmonds has lost my faith as a trusted brand. Too many issues for a quality/luxury price point.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from High quality shoe. Runs more narrow than expected. Takes some time to break-in the shoes, but overall very comfortable.

How does the sanford cao-toe derby fit compared to the fit of the strand cap-toe?

Asked by: Bob1972
They definitely run smaller. I have a pair of strands that I love, and then I bought two Sanfords in the exact same size; I virtually never wear the Sanfords because they're so uncomfortable as to be painful and damaging to the skin with even moderate walking. Very disappointing.
