Leeds Shell Cordovan Derby Shoe is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 146.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Flaws on nice shoe Purchased on the recent AE sale as first quality, not seconds, as I was deciding between these and the Alden derby. The pair I received had some noticeable flaws, and while at certain price points one might live with some flaws but for the price paid I think the pair I received would qualify as seconds. The issues: The paper thin layer of some tan material glued on the heel was miscut and glued to the side of the heel about an eighth of an inch up. The thin layer which did not even appear to be leather? was delaminating. Also, one pair had a perfect sole stitching around the entire upper, and the other had a major flaw on the inner footbed area of the sole looking like is got crushed. Upon contacting AE they offered to exchange the shoe, however it is been about a month and the replacement has not yet shipped. I will add that upon first contacting AE, I was told these were non refundable or exchangeable however upon further discussion the rep. did say they could be exchanged. It might give me pause about ordering these types of shoes again in the future. I will update when new pair is received. Hoping for the best as I have purchased AE shoe before and had good experience. In fact the other pair (Grayson) ordered at the same time arrived in PERFECT condition and are beautiful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from August 29 Review - Leeds Shell Cordova Derby Shoe -- Perfection Needs the Right Care I wrote a review on 29-August related to the Leeds Shell Cordova Derby Shoe, that the shoes had different color tones. I was wrong. The issue was the shoe was not polish correctly. I kept misusing the Cordovan Shoe Care Cream (applying it on a regular basis). I found a shoe shiner who has able to shine the shoes to perfection. The color tone on both shoes now match. I now so love these shoes. I also see that your website updated the information on Cordova shoe care since my last review. The leather for this shoe does need clear maintenance instructions. Thank you for your commitment to your customers and continue to make the perfect shoe.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from QC was on vacation that day! I compared the quality of the shoe next to my Alden Shell Cordovan and no comparison to how Alden shoes are made and the attention to detail they put on making their shoes. The Leeds that I received should have been sent straight to your C Grade outlet shoes store! I didn't even look the same from the picture on your website. Anyways, let just say that unless ur selling your Leeds Shell Cordovan for under $150 I still won't buy one. Total Garbage!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste of $600. I have the Leeds in black Cordovan. I've wanted shell cordovan shoes for a long time and finally too the plunge. Big mistake. Yes, the shoe is extremely comfortable but I can only wear it on dry days. If it is exposed to even a light drizzle of rain the leather stains and looks like garbage the rest of the day. It takes a lot of buffing and polish to remove the water staining. I called Allen Edmonds and was told that sometimes happens with shell cordovan. Is this what $600 buys nowadays?

    Current Leeds vs. Old Leeds

I bought a pair of black leather (non-cordovan) Leeds about 6 years ago. They are the "old style", the one before Leeds 2.0. Can you please tell me whether the current Leeds model -- the one that's for sale now -- would be the same or different than my old Leeds? Thank you!
    Asked by: Christopher
The Leeds currently offered is the original version of the Leeds. Feel free to contact us again if you have additional questions!

How long does the leather sole on shell cordovan shoes remain slippery?

Presently my new shell cordovan derby shoes are slippery when walking on rugs.
    Asked by: Rookie
General wear will abrade the leather soles which will increase traction overtime. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

The Leeds Shell Cordovan Derby: If I order it with a customized sole (Dainite) can I return it for refund of exchange? What if it isn't customized?

I live in Canada and will probably have to pay import duty and tax. If I return the shoes, do you also refund the duty and tax I paid?

It is vitally important to visit an Allen Edmonds retail store or retail partner for a professional fitting to increase your chances of finding a proper fit. If that's not possible, typically we recommend trying the same size you usually wear and judge the fit based on how comfortable you feel in the shoes. If you're in between sizes, we suggest trying both to see which one you feel most comfortable in.   Keep in mind that products purchased on AllenEdmonds.com may be returned as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip.  Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoes in returnable condition.
